We know that they had invested in an Xbox console port, but that it foundered due to multiplayer performance issues. Given that they have been radio silent and haven't shown off any new work that I'm aware of, I'd take that as a sign that they aren't actively investing anything in Starbound right now. 1.4 was basically just them finishing up the bounty hunter work they'd already mostly completed in early 2018.
Then they dropped work on Starbound in favor of another game, and only returned to it once that other game was launched. I think some of that bounty hunter code was even in the 1.3 pack (albeit not accessible in the game). Right after 1.3 dropped they started showing off their bounty hunter work. society I guess? get over it’s weirdness about nudity and sex. Have bathrooms but don’t strictly enforce a need. Why does no one in mass effect poop? Starbound has bathrooms but despite race-ending apocalypse no one is dating/pairing off for repopulation? No one is having trntacle ptsd? There’s this thin shallowness that would easily be solved with small touches. I’m not sure why but when a game takes the effort to have the small things- like all the little meaningless minigames GTA’s have had recently(golf, bowling, darts) it makes the game world itself feel more fleshed out. Bathrooms, dates, sex, relationships, food, diseases. I’m probably alone in this, but I’ve wanted to see games adopt more ‘little touches’ of reality for almost thirty years now.
